Best Books I Read in 2015

Best Books I Read in 2015

2015 has come and gone and I have read some pretty amazing books this year! I read a total of 51 books—that’s one more than last year! Maybe next year I’ll FINALLY manage to read a book a week (For those who don’t know, that’s 52 books). Let’s countdown the best books I read in 2015!

Before I start, I’m NOT putting these in any particular order because all of these books were equally amazing!

The rest of the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas

I read my first fantasy book at the end of 2014. That book happened to be Throne of Glass. This book is pretty much the reason I spent most of the year reading fantasy novels. After reading the amazingly amazing Throne of Glass, I quickly read the rest of the series, including the novellas, and I had discovered a new favourite series of mine. If I HAD to choose my favourite book in the series it would be a really close race between Heir of Fire and Queen of Shadows, but ultimately I think I enjoyed reading Queen of Shadows a tad more than Heir of Fire, despite all of its flaws. Who knew that I would end up shipping Dorian and Manon?

The Falling Kingdoms series by Morgan Rhodes

I read all of the books but Frozen Tides this year and I loved them! This series is the reason I started my blog; I HAD to tell someone about this series! These books are so fast-paced and easy to read, I would HIGHLY recommend them if you are trying to get into fantasy. My favourite of the ones I’ve read is definitely Gathering Darkness; these books get better throughout the series. I CANNOT wait to read Frozen Tides!

The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater

I can honestly say that I have no idea why I was inclined to read this series. It never sounded like something that would interest me and everyone always said that this series was really strange. The latter half is still true but this series is SUPER interesting. I have to give credit to the way that Maggie Stiefvater writes these books. IT’S SO BEAUTIFUL. I can’t choose my favourite out of the three because I love them all in such different ways; the first book was serious and had a great story, the second book had RONAN, and the third book was surprisingly REALLY funny. I highly recommend this series!

Penryn and the End of Days trilogy by Susan Ee

penryn

This series is the same as Falling Kingdoms for me, but the romance didn’t feel insta-lovey. I am IN LOVE with this trilogy—it’s one of my all-time favourite trilogies. I love how dark the atmosphere is, I love all of the characters, and these books are SUPER fast-paced! I have to say that I can’t choose if I like Angelfall or World After better, they’re both SO good! This is the best angel series I’ve ever read!

The Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone by J.K. Rowling

HP1

This was the year I finally committed to finishing The Philosopher’s Stone and I am so glad I did. I have tried to read that first book once every year and I can’t believe that this is the year that I finally committed to reading this series. I’m super excited to finish the rest of the series in 2016!

Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon

18692431

This was the first ARC I ever reviewed and it was FANTASTIC. I loved all of the characters and the story was just too cute! The way this story is written is amazing; it has pictures and diagrams that the main character has drawn all throughout the book. If you’re looking for a good contemporary, I definitely recommend this one.

The Rest of Us Just Live Here by Patrick Ness

22910900

Speaking of good contemporaries…  This book was also amazing. It happened to be the first physical ARC I’d ever received. I love the concept of this story and how brilliantly it was executed. I’ll definitely be reading more Patrick Ness in the future!

Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell

15745753

This was my first Rainbow Rowell book and it definitely won’t be my last. I LOVED this book, everything about it was so ADORABLE. I love adorable things! Surprisingly, I found myself relating A LOT to Park and it was kind of freaky at times; the bus scene was SO me. If you haven’t read anything by Rainbow Rowell, I HIGHLY suggest you make it your New Year’s resolution to do so.

Those were my favourite books I read in 2015! I’m hoping to dedicate 2016 to finishing all the series I’ve started, but I’m almost 100% positive that that’s not going to happen! Comment down below your favourite read of 2015!

  1. What an amazing year of reads you had. Yep, I totally loved Throne of Glass, too. (I don’t think I’ve run across a single person who hasn’t!) I’m super excited to read Everything Everything and the End of Days trilogy.
